No sooner had President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the imminent National Lockdown, than our elders swung into action!

At Kings Hall and Lucas Gardens, Sheila Rice, Freda Cassim, Doreen Paul, Eleanor Bremmer, Theresa Naidoo and Maureen Chendria pulled out their sewing machines and set to work with a will, creating colourful face masks for every single fellow resident.

Ladies of Langeler Towers and John Conradie House decided to make material shopping bags for fellow residents, to eliminate the ubiquitous single use plastic bags.

Fabric for all these items was donated to Tafta by Sonal Verma, Saleem Paruk and Quasim Kajee. Thank you so much for your generosity. Your kindness not only meant masks to keep all our residents safe, but gave our elders the joy of feeling busy and useful.
