Tafta is proud to announce that our Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Femada Shamam, has been short-listed in the 2021 Standard Bank KZN Top Business Women Initiative.

Femada, together with the nine other phenomenal women, will share their stories during an interactive online webinar series. Starting on Thursday, 2 September at 6.30 pm, the series offers an opportunity to learn from the best!

The nominees come from all sectors – big business, entrepreneurs and agents of social change. With a wealth of insights gleaned from their experiences to share, these role models can help others achieve  personal, career or business growth.

We are particularly proud of our own Femada Shamam, who has been instrumental in changing the lives of so many elders over the past two decades. She began her career at Tafta in 1999 as a young, newly qualified social worker. In 2003, she was promoted to Head of Tafta’s Social Agency. She then decided to continue with her studies, attaining a first-class pass in Business Management and completing her BCom degree.

Apart from dedicating the past 22 years to serving the elderly, Femada also participates in several local, provincial, national and international forums, lobbying for elders’ rights.

“My guiding belief has always been that a better life for the elderly is possible,” she says.
