Over the next few months, you’re going to be seeing and hearing a lot about Tafta’s theme of Honouring the Elderly. It’s designed to create awareness of issues affecting our elders, and encourage greater numbers of people to get involved in honouring the elderly.
With the ageing population growing, and unemployment and poverty at an all-time high in South Africa, Tafta is under increasing pressure to provide essential services to needy elders.
As a regular donor, you play an integral part in helping fund the cost of shelter, food, frail care, assisted living, hygiene and transport for elders in need. And I hope you know how very grateful we are for your generous support.
But more needs to be done. Through our Purple Hearts campaign, we’re hoping to encourage many others like you to get involved. Some day we will be old ourselves – and knowing that Tafta will be there to provide a safety net is a great comfort.
Please get behind the campaign –whether you choose to increase your own level of giving, or encourage someone else to get involved. You and your friends can donate cash, volunteer, attend our events, consider a bequest to Tafta, or donate gifts in kind or second hand items for our charity shop.
Together we can build a better future for Durban’s elders!
