At our annual staff update event, held at the Durban Country Club on 6 April, two staff members were honoured for their many years of loyalty, commitment, and service to Durban’s aged.
Renee Chislett, Divisional Manager of Finance, has chalked up 30 years’s service, while Carer, Nompilo Mkhize has been with the organisation for 10 years.
Tafta CEO, Femada Shamam, used the opportunity to praise the dedication of both employees: “Tafta is proud and thankful to celebrate this achievement with our staff. It is said that there is no better work, than work in service to others, and we hope that you are rewarded for your dedication to Tafta for many lifetimes to come.”
Renee and Nompilo join a proud lineage of Tafta staff committed to elder care. “Since August last year, Tafta has celebrated and acknowledged twenty three Tafta employees – whose long service ranged from 10 years to a staggering 40 years,” Shamam said.
Questioned about her long standing employment, Renee said she remained loyal to the work Tafta does and the meaning it brought, and continues to bring, to those it serves. Nompilo Mkhize, who is a trained Carer at Tafta’s John Conradie House, Frail Care unit, said she has always been drawn to helping the elderly: “It has been a privilege for me to serve the elders at Tafta. In the last decade I have been exposed to so much and I am so grateful to Tafta for providing me with this opportunity”.
