Bidvest McCarthy Toyota Durban North Dealer Principal, Glenda Austin, is calling on all golfers – especially the ladies – to support Tafta’s 60th anniversary commemorative Golf Challenge, taking place at the Durban Country Club on 10 May 2018.
Glenda, who will lead an all-male team and is the only female participant in this year’s event, says that as a mother and hopefully, one day grandmother, she is in full support of the Tafta Meals on Wheels service, that will benefit from the event.
“Ageing is inevitable and so many families are faced with caring for an ageing family member. Isn’t it comforting to know there is an organisation like Tafta to support our elders and provide care when the time comes?”
A keen golfer and avid traveller, Glenda urged organisations to get involved, even at a small scale, to support this worthy cause.
“Bidvest McCarthy Toyota Durban North gets involved in a lot of community projects and we will continue to support Tafta with other great fundraising initiatives during their anniversary year,” she said.
The Tafta tournament, which is a 4-ball format, tees off at 11am and the R1000 per person cost includes a goodie bag, lunch, green fees and cart fees, as well as an exciting end to the evening with an auction and live entertainment at dinner. Prizes from our generous sponsors will be awarded to the top10 teams, longest drive and closest to pin – plus there is a lucky draw and more.
All proceeds for this year’s event will once again go towards Tafta’s Meals on Wheels service, which provides nutritious prepared meals to elders in Tafta homes and those in the community, who are housebound or who can no longer cook for themselves. The meals are ready-to-eat and conveniently delivered to the homes of the elderly or housebound, providing them with the essential nourishment they need.
“Escalating food prices have impacted on the cost of this service, and we are looking to communities and corporates to help us continue this service by participating in the golf day or through sponsorship,” says Tafta’s Income Development, Marketing and Public Relations Manager Gail Samuels.
