John Conradie House resident, Mr Jaques Manacourt, is confined to a wheelchair. But rather than sitting around doing nothing all day, he decided he would become our unofficial doorman.
Before he came here seven months ago, Jaques lived alone. Being rather shy, he struggled to make new friends. But all that changed since he became a familiar face at the front door.
When he’s not manning the front door, Jaques enjoys being pushed along the beachfront in his wheelchair by his new friend and fellow resident, Frank. “I love going to uShaka,” he says. “It’s so nice there!”
