Thursday 21 March: Human Rights Day – Many elderly people are abused or exploited, despite our Constitution clearly stating their rights: the right to be treated equally, the right to dignity, to have access to adequate housing and food, health care and social security, and the right to access information and adult education.

16 May: Tafta’s Annual Fundraising Golf Day – Get your team together and join us for a wonderful day of social golf at Durban Country Club. 4 ball alliance, 2 scores to count. Great prizes to be won and proceeds help fund our Meals on Wheels service.

15 June: World Elder Abuse Day – Elder abuse is a global social issue which affects millions of older persons around the world. Join us on Friday 14 June for a peaceful walk to the City Hall to raise awareness of this scourge.

18 July: Mandela Day – As always, there are numerous opportunities to spend your 67 minutes at one of our homes or wellness centres, helping to bring a little extra joy and comfort to our elders. Keep an eye on social media and our website for details nearer to the time.

September: Gala Dinner – Join us at the Elangeni Hotel for an evening of glamour, good food and entertainment, all for a good cause.

1 October: International Day of Older Persons – Join us in celebrating the important contributions that older people make to society, and help raise awareness of the joys and challenges of ageing in today’s world.

24 November: Trail Run – Lace on those takkies and get ready for a morning of healthy activity, running or walking through Virginia Bush Nature Reserve.
