You helped us to have a merry little Christmas

By: | Tags:

The dining halls of TAFTA residences around Durban rang out with festive cheer the day the residents came together to celebrate Christmas. Once again we were blessed by our community of friends and given the most magnificent Christmas lunch with all its trimmings. Happy chatter, the snapping of crackers, carols and laughter filled the air. The food, prepared with professional skill and loving care by our own Cook ‘n Care facility was absolutely delicious, every bit as good as any restaurant meal. How the residents feasted and enjoyed themselves! Most […]

101 years old – Happy Birthday!

By: | Tags:

Sheila Healy, a resident at The Outspan, turned 101 a few days ago. Close family and friends treated her to a celebration at Durban Country Club and a small party was also held in her honour at The Outspan. This spritely senior enjoys reading the newspaper every morning – and does so without prescription glasses. She attributes her longevity to not consuming alcohol, never smoking, eating healthily and having a positive attitude. We wish Mrs Healy a most enjoyable year ahead.

Big thank you to Regent Harriers

By: | Tags:

Each year Regent Harriers make a generous donation to charity, and TAFTA was one of two beneficiaries which each received R5000 from the group on Friday 16 January. Monkey Helpline was the other charity. Regent Harriers is not a running club, but a group of about 500 runners and walkers who meet at 5.15 am 6 days of the week to keep fit and form friendships. We are so grateful to them for their generosity in raising funds for those in need – and in particular for choosing to support […]

Robin Hood Foundation brings joy

By: | Tags:

Our grateful thanks go to the Robin Hood Foundation and their Bless a Granny and Grandpa initiative, which has seen bands of volunteers visit our Homes with gifts galore and teatime treats for the elderly residents. At each home, residents were showered with goodie bags filled with items from their wishlists – as well as bunches of beautiful flowers, fruit, and home baked treats. They also got lots of friendly hugs and the chance to chat to the volunteers over a cup of tea. We are so thankful for the […]
