Meals on Wheels now in it’s 54th year – thanks to you!

By: | Tags:

Incredible to think that Tafta’s Meals on Wheels Service has been delivering nutritious ready-to-eat meals to frail and needy Durban seniors for over 50 years! And not one day goes by when we don’t say a silent prayer of thanks for the wonderful donors and volunteers who keep it going. Even though it costs us just R22.90 to deliver a 3-course meal to a pensioner’s door, multiply that by the 1 500 meals we deliver each month and you’ll see why your help is crucial! Active Ageing is a relatively new term – but the concept has been around for a long time. When it comes to quality of life, we all know how important it is to be fit and healthy, to spend time with family and friends and to remain interested in life and eager to learn new things. John Conradie House and John Dunn House were the most popular, each attracting about 30 visitors. Visitors were taken on tours of the facilities and given information about the various TAFTA services available. Afterwards they enjoyed a cup of tea and cake. It was wonderful to see so many people taking an interest in the options available to seniors living on a limited budget.
