Additional frail care beds to increase capacity at John Dunn House

For the past 30 years, John Dunn House in Wentworth has provided a haven of care for frail elders affected by dementia, Alzheimer’s, stroke, cancer, and the effects of chronic diabetes – as well as those requiring end of life care.

The home caters for those who are reliant on the state old age pension, which comes nowhere close to covering the cost of this level of care. And every year, the waiting list grows.

Within the next few months, we’ll be adding another nine beds at John Dunn House – solely to cater for vulnerable elders receiving a state grant. As part of the upgrade, Tafta is also seeking sponsorship of 55 special pressure reducing mattresses, filled with air bubbles, costing R2 700 each.
