Women's Day at Tafta

Thank you to our caring staff

Our care workers, nurses and social workers have put their own health at risk, and sacrificed time with their families to ensure the health and well-being of our cherished elders. During the lockdown, some of our very own Tafta superwomen chose to stay in with our elders instead of going home to their loved ones. These heroines also stepped up to screen our residents during our first outbreak of Covid-19 and assisted residents to digitally stay in contact with their families during the lonely lockdown. We wanted to show our […]

Capitol Caterers sweetened the celebration at Tafta Park by donating a decadent variety of cupcakes for tea time. Elders were also gifted with cards and tokens of appreciation. Ladies at Tata Lodge celebrated the day with a motivational talk and group activity to create this beautiful monument. Well done phenomenal […]

Retirement in a post Covid-19 world

With jobs in South Africa being shed at unprecedented rates – unemployment is projected to reach 50% by the end of the year – the majority of South Africans are about to get a lot poorer. And it’s going to impact not only on our lives today, but on the kind of lives we planned for the future. If your employer is struggling to keep the company afloat and has had to reduce your salary, your retirement fund contribution (usually a percentage of your salary) will be less too. Some […]

How can a disease that forces people apart bring them together?

By: | Tags:

Such is the paradox of Covid-19. To avoid passing on the disease we are urged to stay at home. If we do venture out, we must practice social distancing and wear masks that hide our smiles. Under these conditions, meaningful contact with others is pretty much impossible; even communicating with the person at the till is difficult, when words are muffled by masks and barriers of shiny perspex. The feeling of being cut off from everyone else is almost surreal. And because we humans are social beings, this feeling of […]
