More than 350 fitness enthusiasts braved the wet weather to participate in Tafta’s popular annual Trail Run.

Runners had the choice of two distances – 4km and 8km – with both routes taking participants along the little known ‘green’ corridors of Virginia Bush. Despite its proximity to the City, this nature area is a haven of cool paths beneath a green canopy of natural forest, filled with birdsong.

Winners were:
4km – Women
1) Sisandas Khakhane
2) Gumede Sphumelele
3) Gumede Lusandea

4km – Men
1) Mndaba Nkosinathi
2) Mkhize Bhekisi
3) Bernard Ndlovu

8km – Women
1) Keren Worlock
2) Nadine Cahill
3) Thobe Khuzwayo

8km – Men
1) Zwane Sbonga
2) Claude Eksteen
3) Qiniso Nala

Proceeds from the event went towards the cost of caring for vulnerable elderly people in our community. Grateful thanks to all who participated, and contributed to our Christmas Cheerbox campaign. Thanks also to Dave Ward of Ward Events for his capable management of the run.
