In a recent survey to assess the impact of Covid-19 on retirement planning*, 66% of respondents stated that the lockdown had affected them financially. Sadly, we have begun the new year with a spate of new infections in our homes. The newer strain of the Coronavirus has taken hold fast, with the infection spreading at a rapid rate once it enters our homes. Since the start of the pandemic in South Africa, we have recorded a total of 144 Covid positive cases among elders and staff. December 14: Four more elders have been diagnosed with Covid-19 since yesterday at John Conradie House/Langeler Towers complex and Tafta Lodge. There are now a total of 10 Covid-19 positive elders and 2 positive carers at Tafta Homes. Of these ten new cases, six elders are in hospital and a further four are in quarantine.
