Give a little time ... get a great deal of satisfaction

Volunteers come from all walks of life – from school children who assist with street collections and Christmas food parcels, to men and women who are themselves 'getting on a bit'!

Whoever you are and whatever your special strengths, we welcome your involvement as a TAFTA volunteer, and will find a task that suits your skills, age and the amount of time you have available.

For example, among other things, we need volunteers to:

  • deliver Meals on Wheels from the TAFTA van to nearby homes;
  • sell raffle tickets and assist with displays in our PR department;
  • act as a companion – accompanying the frail to clinics and hospitals;
  • serve as sales assistants in our gift shop;
  • visit lonely aged and ill people;
  • sew – help mend second-hand clothing for needy pensioners;
  • sort and select items in the Squirrels Workshop;
  • assist with games, shows and outings at one of our Service Centres;
  • serve Christmas lunches at our homes;
  • telephone elderly people who may be lonely or ill;
  • assist with street collections;
  • teach handcrafts at our therapy centres;
  • type and assist with other admin tasks at our offices;
  • provide transport – you need a valid driver's licence and some time on your hands.

TAFTA volunteers enjoy friendly camaraderie and the satisfaction of knowing they are making a real difference in the lives of old people.

Even if you only have a couple of hours to spare, please volunteer today! Telephone 031 332-3721 and ask for the volunteer co-ordinator.

Thank you!
