Pretty Things for Little Things

Checkers and Shoprite, in conjunction with Age in Action, sponsors the Pretty Things for Little Things campaign that urges customers, especially senior citizens, to put their creative talents to work to make clothes and toys for needy children. Articles can be made of any resources available and can be entered into four categories namely soft toys, blankets, clothing, and other articles made from materials such as wood, tin or wire.

TAFTA qualified in the following categories provincially: Soft Toys: 1st Prize – Mrs Hazel Dene and 3rd Prize – Mrs Isabel Gavin; Other toys: Mr Kenneth Herbet White (Mr White was also the 2nd place winner nationally in this catergory); Most items received from an organisation in the province: 170 items and oldest male who entered the competition: Mr. Kenneth Herbet White (75).
