“You don’t stop dancing because you grow old, you grow old because you stop dancing.”
Being awarded the Ponn Aaday (Golden Shawl) for my work with the elderly, during the Tamil Women’s Progressive Movement high tea for TAFTA last October, was both an honour and a humbling experience. It was an honour to have my efforts acknowledged. Elderly people I’ve met have helped me understand what to value most in life – and these suggestions make great New Year Resolutions as we ease into 2016!
• Spend more time with family and friends
• Spend more time dancing … Or any other enjoyable activity that keeps you fit.
• Learn something new
• Go somewhere you’ve never been before
• Help others. Whether you volunteer at a local home, a lifestyle centre or Meals on Wheels, giving back to society is our chance to make the world a better place.
