Over 800 delegates from all over the world converged in Perth, Australia last September for the 2015 ACSA/IAHSA Joint Conference on ageing.
TAFTA’s head of Social Services, Femada Shamam, was awarded a Common Age scholarship to attend the conference. She also presented a paper on Holistic services in an under resourced area. Delegates from around the world were interested in hearing how South African organisations can continue to provide quality services with little input from the government.
Femada returned with renewed vigour and enthusiasm to carry forward the vision of a society which embraces older people, and which supports them in living a fulfilling and satisfying life.
