Out and about after 20 years in a Home

Imagine not having left your home in 20 years! Since Dumazile moved into John Dunn House more than two decades ago, she has not left it once. She  is confined to a wheelchair and is unable to stand, which makes it extremely difficult to take her on outings. At the beginning of this year Dumazile, who loves to sing, joined the JDH choir. Table Tennis Tournament a great success

TAFTA in partnership with the Department of Sports and Recreation hosted its first table tennis tournament on 17 October. Approximately 127 older folk attended the event at the Nelson Mandela Youth Centre in Chatsworth. The competition was won by Mary Asher Service Centre (winners pictured below). Well done to all who participated and special thanks to Reggie and his team from the eThekwini Table Tennis Club for assisting on the day.

Picnic at Anna Conradie Service Centre

Due to inclement weather conditions yesterday – Thursday, 1 October 2015 –  TAFTA’s Picnic in the Gardens ended up being a Picnic at Anna Conradie Service Centre Hall. Over 400 older folk enjoyed entertainment by the Durban Music School, S. Dass School, Elvis Impersonator Andrea G, Les Vurden and the Army Band.
