TAFTA's goal is to help elderly men and women remain
independent for as long as possible – and services such
as Home Based Care and Meals on Wheels are designed to provide the support
that makes this possible.
However, sometimes it becomes necessary for a person to move into
a protective environment where they can receive friendly support,
including 24-hour nursing care if necessary.
TAFTA owns several
retirement complexes, homes and blocks of flats, which are available
for people over the age of 60 to rent or purchase on a life right
basis. Click here
for a full list.
Kindly note that currently all the Homes and flats have
waiting lists of various lengths.
How to apply
If you – or an elderly relative – requires accommodation, kindly
telephone the Intake Social Worker at our head office, on tel:
+27 31 332-3721.
You will be invited to come in for an interview with one of our
social workers and given forms to complete. There is a R5 fee for
the forms.
Your application will then be assessed by the screening committee
and placed on the waiting list for the specific building applied
for.
When a vacancy arises, the Home Secretary will contact you.
General Requirements for TAFTA accommodation
Applicants must be 60 years and older, and must have been a
permanent resident in Durban for at least one year.
Applicants should have a minimum income of a State Pension or
a Disability Grant. If you do not have either of these, our social
worker can help you apply.
